Thank you for making JuneFest 2009 a huge hit!
This year’s JuneFest event was once again a huge success. The 7th annual event was held on Thursday, June 17, 2009 at Mel Lastman Square. It proved to be a great day, bringing together consumers, service providers and the local community in celebration of Deaf-Blind Awareness Month in the province of Ontario. Many organizations came out to provide information about their services and groups, with an increase in participation from deaf-blind consumer organizations including CNSDB. It was a beautiful day filled with sunshine, excitement and lots of fun for all.
Activities included a charity BBQ hosted by M&M Meat Shops, live music by the Curries, a visit from Ronald McDonald®, Starbucks sampling, delicious pizza from Boston Pizza, a silent auction and eBay auction, plus many other fun and exciting activities. Special thanks to all the volunteers who helped make the day a success, Xerox, and David Zimmer (MPP for Willowdale) for making a special appearance and taking the time to socialize with members of the deaf-blind community.
Stay tuned for information on next year’s event and, in the meantime, take a look at some of the great photos from JuneFest 2009!
